Make it Yourself :: Printable Coupons

Make it Yourself

Hobbies can take almost any direction and form. From escaping into the unknown wilderness of a nearest national park to creating the cake of your best friend's wedding, your hobbies reflect a part of your personality; obvious or rather well hidden. Some of my favorite hobbies include painting, traveling, conversing, cooking and dinning, walking and doing things on my own. Like many people around the globe, I take joy out of making things with my hands and exercise my mind in discovering new ways of using old things one would throw out instantly as waste. If you think this article is not for you, try remembering your grandma's best recipe or when was the last time you found a new way to use those worn out clothes. Now maybe you can understand why making things can become a relaxing recreational experience that has a direct result and costs almost nothing more than time; which you will spend anyway, if you are determined to find at a store that special piece you are looking for.

While you can go window shopping till you drop from exhaustion trying to find the perfect present for your friend's birthday celebration, it would be rather interesting if you considered making something yourself instead. Apart from exploring your craft skills and realizing that an item can have more than its usual commercial application, your friend will be delighted to receive a gift that took you time to prepare and has your personal touch engraved all over it. From birthday cards, to picture frames, or even to a whole new attire, making something on your own can prove to be a rather fulfilling experience, which can offer you a high level of personal satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment that are not always earned during your heavy daily schedule. Thus, I strongly recommend to you to try putting your skills to better use and rather than suffering from calluses on your toes after hours of endless search, to offer yourself a way to express its creative side and save some money in the meantime.

Older generations, not too far ago in time, have never heard of department stores and shopping malls and yet they managed to create everything that was necessary for them to live and be content while using their craft to serve their needs. Of course, life was not as comfortable and "easy" as it is today, but if one considers the easiness factor one more time, it is avoidable to conclude that consumerism and over-consumption have left human creativity unused and thus, in a state of hibernation. Putting your creative skills back into use is not that difficult. From crafting a toy for your child or pet, to creating stylish storage containers from unused boxes, or using all those extra pieces of cloth and sewing them together to come up with an interesting looking kitchen towel or even apron, your imagination can take your craft wherever you decide. Just think about the time you will save from traveling back and forth in traffic or searching without being able to conclude on a decent idea for your friend's present. Things should be simple and only you are in control of your ability to make "easy" things really easy.

Credit Card Security Advice :: Best Online Retail News

Credit Card Security Advice

Which of the following is the biggest threat to your credit card security?

a) Shopping online with a credit card
b) Shopping in a real store with your credit card
c) Ordering something over the phone with your credit card

The answer may surprise you. It's b - shopping in a real store with a credit card. Despite all the controversy and publicity surrounding internet phishing and identity theft, shopping online is a relatively safe process. Credit card fraudsters are far more likely to get your credit card numbers and ID information by hacking into a bank or credit card company computer than they are to hack into an online store's server.

The truth is that there are some dangers to using credit cards in ANY situation - and there are ways to safeguard your information and security no matter where you shop with your credit card.

When shopping online

Only shop reputable sites. If a shopping web site has been around for a while, it's a pretty good bet that they're legitimate.
Always type the name of a site into your browser address bar rather than clicking on a link in your email. That way you'll be sure that you're going to the company's actual site and not a fake mirror.
Use an online money transfer service rather than your usual credit card. You can fund an account with a service like Paypal via your credit card or bank account - but your information isn't freely available. When you pay via PayPal, the only information that the seller gets about you is your email address.

When shopping in a real store

Keep your eye on your credit card. Stores with the latest tech in credit card scanning won't ever even handle your card - you slide it in the scanner yourself and it never leaves your possession. In stores that aren't that hip yet, keep your eye on what's happening with your card, and ALWAYS take your credit card receipt. Until everyone is using the latest scanners and printers that only print out the last four digits of your credit card, discarded credit card receipts are the easiest way for thieves to get hold of your credit card numbers.

When shopping by phone

Never, ever, ever give your credit card numbers to someone who called you. No matter how good a deal sounds, insist on being given the time to confirm the identity and company of the person you're speaking with.

As you can see, for the most part, common sense is all it takes to keep your credit card information safe!

Market Research Means Money :: Best Online Retail News

Market Research Means Money

I recently made a critical mistake in my progression towards business success: I forgot about market research. I had decided that I was going to make some money with an online store. I thought to myself, where should I start? What can I sell? After a bit of brainstorming, I picked a few things that I thought might be good to sell online. I then proceeded to start looking for suppliers. This may seem like a reasonable course of action, but it is not. It is missing a key component of any business plan.

A basic assumption for the purpose of this article is that there is competition involved with any business. Even if you make your own, unique product, similar products will compete against yours. However, the existence of competition is not necessarily bad. The fact that online retailers are selling items similar or identical to your own means that there is demand for your product. Competition is only bad for you, as a retailer, when the market is becoming saturated (or is already at that point).

Check the electronics market for a good example of this principle. Electronics go for rock-bottom prices online because there are so many different stores that sell them. The difference in prices between stores usually comes down to the cost of shipping. The competition in this area is extreme. If retailers cut their prices any lower they wont make enough to survive.

The first person who had the idea to sell VCRs online probably made a killing. Nowadays, nobody makes anything more than a buck or two per unit. For a home-based business, thats not good enough. Todays electronics dealers depend on volume, and very good supply sources, in order to make their money. Generally speaking, small retailers cannot sell at those prices and turn a profit.

In order to be successful it is essential that you know what youre up against, and that means market research.

If you are selecting your products, then you need to know which stores already sell those products. You also need to know how many stores there are, how much they are charging and, if you can find out, how well they are doing. Could you sell for less (if only a little)? What are other ways you could differentiate your store from the rest?

If you already have your product, then you need to know where and how your competitors are advertising. Are they concentrated in one location? Are there good places that they have overlooked? How much is it going to cost to compete with them for prime ad space?

So, you may ask, where do I begin? The answer is Overture. Owned by Yahoo, Overture is one of the largest and most reliable pay-per-click advertising services. Their program can be an extremely effective, but that is something for another day.

What you need for research requires no sign-up and belongs to no program. There are two web tools in the Overture Advertiser Center that can be amazingly useful. The first is the Search Term Suggestion Tool. This tool allows you to look up a keyword, like digital camera, and find out how many people searched for that term last month. Not only that, but the tool will suggest a list of related terms, like digital camera review, for your consideration.

The number of searches per term comes from Overtures partners like Yahoo, MSN, AltaVista, CNN, etc. This is critical information because it tells you whether or not people are looking for your product online and, at the same time, shows you how they are searching for it. This indicates a certain demand for your product.

You may be able to judge the size of the demand, to a certain degree, by the number of searches for your terms. For example (numbers taken at time of writing and may not reflect current rates):

Digital Camera 1,337,422 (high interest)

Used Car 890,346

Mountain Bike 133,553

Blender 26,648

Bubble Gum Machine 1,502

Chapstick Raspberry Vanilla 25 (very low interest)

Keep in mind that users searching for digital camera are not necessarily shopping for one. They may just want information such as reviews or feature lists. It is also good to remember that if people are searching on Yahoo and MSN, as in the case of digital cameras, then you can safely assume that even more people are searching for the same things on Google.

The second tool Overture provides is the View Bids Tool. This tool allows you to take the keywords that you found with the term suggestion tool and see how many ads there are for each term and how high the bids are (in order to be listed on top of your competition you must place a higher bid for the term you want). This tool can help you judge your competition.

For example, at the time of this writing there are 131 ads associated with the term digital camera. The top bid is 79 cents per click. Bubble gum machine has 13 ads with a top bid of 49 cents. Chapstick Raspberry Vanilla, not surprisingly, has no bids on the term which means that the top spot could be purchased for the minimum price of 10 cents per click.

After you have your information from Overture, Google is your likely next step. To my knowledge, Google does not provide any analysis tools to the general public, though information is available to registered advertisers. Despite this limitation, it is easy to find your competition on Google. Simply enter your search term and check the right side of the results screen. The first page should show the top advertisers. Checking subsequent pages will reveal the entire list of advertisers for that term.

Tip: Sometimes advertisers may be targeting your term, but not selling your product. Read through the ads and visit the sites to get a more accurate idea of your direct competitors.

The natural results (the normal, non-ad results) of your search are important as well. Check those to see the top ranked sites in your market. Those sites are probably there because they employ search engine optimization (SEO) techniques. Users are much more likely to click on the natural results than they are the ads. The stores at the top of the list are likely to be well established and may represent some solid competition.

Visit your competitors web sites and see what they are selling. Check for site quality, organization, ease of use and amount of products sold. Perhaps they sell your product, but it is lost in a vast sea of other related merchandise. That means better chances for your niche store. Maybe their site is ugly or hard to navigate. These are points at which you could gain an advantage over your rivals. Checking other sites will also give you ideas about how to run your own store.

The third step in this process is to check out Yahoo! Shopping. Yahoo! hosts what is known as an online mall. That is, retailers setup stores with Yahoo!s services and are then included in Yahoo! Shoppings listings. This can be a good way to get fast traffic. For market research, it means easy access to competitor sites. On the Yahoo! Shopping main page, do a search for your product (Braun blenders for example). The results will show sponsored ads and normal listings. The sponsored ads come from Overture, so you should already be familiar with those.

The normal listings come from a combination of Yahoo! Product Submit results and Yahoo!s web-crawler search database. What is important in this list is actually displayed just below the top sponsor listings and just above the normal listings. There should be two numbers: the number of products found and the number of stores they were found in. For Braun blenders there were 989 matches from 76 stores (at time of writing). Those numbers give you an indication of how many stores youre up against.

Note: If there are too many matches, the number of stores will not be displayed (ex. sony dvd player yields 3,660 matches). Of course, numbers that high shout, big competition, even without store numbers.

Here again you have the opportunity to scope out competing stores. The thorough researcher would get their names and site locations. This may seem time consuming, and it is, but it will help with future research.

Our final recommendation is to visit eBay. Once there, find the eBay Stores area (located in the Specialty Sites box on the homepage at time of writing). Enter your search term to see how many eBay stores are selling your product. Braun blenders shows ten items in eBay stores (not bad compared to Yahoo!). In addition, the search may show regular listings below the store results. These results should give you some idea of the popularity of your product as well as the feasibility of selling it on eBay.

Quick Recap:

Overture (free analysis tools)

Google (ads and natural results)

Yahoo! Shopping (number of stores)

eBay Stores (same deal)

Remember, some competition is good because it shows that there is an interest in your product. Too much competition is bad because it means low profitability. The spot where you can make good money is somewhere in between (most likely on the low end of the competition scale). Unfortunately, I know of no exact way to calculate your chances of success. For those who can afford it, hiring a market research professional might help considerably with that calculation. In any case, a solid business plan built on thorough market research will certainly boost your chances significantly.

Why Thanksgiving Is Hands-Down The Best Holiday :: Cost Cutting Done Right!

Why Thanksgiving Is Hands-Down The Best Holiday

The Thanksgiving season is upon us and just a few days from now, most US citizens will be traveling too far on the worst travel day of the year, to see family they'd rather not spend an afternoon with and will likely see again in another month, and eating far more than they should of some of the best food they've ever tasted on what is a uniquely American holiday.

And while the cynics among us have hit a fever pitch with their decrying of the commercialization and corporate marketing rollouts that have been growing in waves for the last decades, it remains that Thanksgiving is a top holiday for many US citizens.

Of the Big Five, (Easter and July 4th plus the fall triumvirate of Halloween, Christmas, and Thanksgiving) was there ever a question. The three main reasons - least commercialized, most bang for the buck, and one of the 3 times of real reflection all year. Thanksgiving falls right in the middle of the peak shopping season and therefore can't escape being part of the marketing blitz. In fact, the day after Thanksgiving is always one of the busiest shopping days of the year. However, the day of Thanksgiving itself has remained largely untouched by Madison Avenue, except for the necessary foodstuffs, in comparison to Easter, Fourth of July, and certainly Halloween and Christmas. Easter and Christmas marketing efforts are weeks long in preparation and fireworks spending is also remaining strong. And Halloween is a short-lived holiday that many kids look forward to, but parents dread - not only for the candy that remains but the late dark night and weeks of candy-grubbing afterward.

Thanksgiving, though, has remained true to it's roots - a time to be with loved ones, eat good food, and travel as much as you visit. As far as bang for the buck, though, nothing beats it. While many begin turkey preparations up to a week ahead of time, the overall preparation is simple. Just show up and start eating. I mean, you've got to eat anyway on the last Thursday of November. But you certainly don't have to look for eggs, light dynamite on fire, buy 10x too much candy, or do everything people do around Christmas - yet we all do it. Thanksgiving has stayed true to its origins and provided much satisfaction for a relatively easy investment of time, money, and effort. And even if you are the host or cook for the year, other family are always willing to chip in.

Finally, Thanksgiving truly is a time to sit back and consider what you have to be grateful for. In fact, many families include a time around the dinner table to talk about what they have and are grateful to have. And besides one's birthday and New Year's Day, there is no other specific time during the year when everyone is reflecting collectively. So while the shopping season will hit it's fever pitch shortly after Thanksgiving and many will start stressing out over the few pounds, consumer spending, and family interactions they'll take over the next month, Thanksgiving will still remain the Last Great Holiday.

Ten Ways to Save Your Sanity During the Holidays :: Free Coupons

Ten Ways to Save Your Sanity During the Holidays

1. Set limits for yourself.

If you feel overwhelmed with shopping, cooking and visiting relatives don't add more to your plate. Take 10-15 minute breaks to take e a walk, meditate, read, pray or just sit still. Don't let anyone guilt you into doing something you don't want to do. Be firm with family and friends about your need to take a break.

Good resource: http://www.relaxandbreathe.com

2. Shop Early or Online.

I'm sure your kids have a list of items for you to go on a scavenger hunt. Save yourself the headache and shop online. Many online retailers like Amazon.com. Target and Wal-Mart have great deals. If you want to avoid another Tickle Me Elmo disaster, shop online. Good resource for toys: http://www.successfulchild.com

If you can't find what you're looking for, do a search on Google.com Http://www.google.com or check out Ebay http://www.ebay.com for your item.

3. Respond, don't react to annoying family members.

If your in-laws are like Frank and Marie Barone from Everybody Love Raymond, then you already know what you are dealing with. They are not going to change and chances are they get a kick out of seeing you frustrated. Let it go and decide that you are not going to let anyone ruin the holidays for you. If someone says something to upset you, assert yourself and let them know that you will not be disrespected. Arguing or defending yourself will only make things escalate. If someone brings up something painful from the past, simply tell the, "This is not a good time for discussing this matter."

Good Resource: http://www.difficultpeople.com

4. Don't Try to Be a Host/Hostess Extraordinaire.

Just because Martha Stewart is in jail, doesn't mean you have to be her replacement. Take turns going to other relatives homes for the holidays. If you had everyone over for Thanksgiving, go to someone else's home for Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa.

5. Shop Wisely.

Buy people what you know they'll want for the holidays. You'll end up wasting your money and time for a recyclable gift. If you know your husband doesn't like skiing, don't buy him a trip to a Ski Resort. People usually drop hints during the year, so pay attention when they are talking. Have alternatives for gifts. Let your children know in advance that there might be a chance that you won't find their gift.

6. Don't Overspend.

Give yourself a budget and stick to it. Need to compare prices? Use an online tool such as http://www.shopping.com, http://www.bizrate.com, http://www.activshopper.com or http://www.pricegrabber.com. Limit yourself to gifts for people on your list. If you need extra gifts (just in case someone gives you one), buy a basket and fill it with candles, and other goodies.

7. Avoid too much alcohol consumption.

Alcohol and family gatherings are a lethal combination. You can not control what the people around you do, but you can control yourself.

8. Stop Wishing for a Perfect Holiday.

If you want to avoid disappointment, don't have expectations of perfection. Everyone has flaws and the holidays may not go as plan. Go with the flow while being optimistic.

9. Take Care of Yourself.

This is not the time for you to slack off of your self care. Exercise, eat right and get adequate sleep. Don't overindulge at parties or family gatherings.

10. Socialize.

The holidays can be lonely or you may not be in a celebratory mood. Instead of sulking, go out with a friend or do something that makes you happy. Keep yourself busy and make plans to treat yourself. If you need spiritual guidance, try visiting a church, mosque or synagogue.

Drop The High Street Drag - Shop For Style Online! :: Best Online Retail News

Drop The High Street Drag - Shop For Style Online!

Surely its considered a major fashion faux pas turning up somewhere in the same outfit as someone else. If the current crop of high street shops are anything to go by, however, youd be forgiven for thinking that clothing conformity is something were all striving towards.

Lets face it, for those of us looking for something a little bit different, high street shopping can be a pretty dreary and dispiriting experience. Just imagine that youre blindfolded and parachuted into a UK citys shopping street your blindfold is removed do you know where you are? The answer is that there will probably be very few clues, as you will find exactly the same shops wherever you go. The usual suspects will be side by side, churning out similar-styled garments and cashing in on the latest celebrity style craze with cheap copies of couture pieces.

To those who crave individualism and want to dress with a bit of flair and originality, this copycat culture is depressing. Kate Moss only has to appear looking stunning dressed in her own inimitable style inimitable being the moot point here - and suddenly were being bombarded by where to get the latest look articles and fooled into spending our hard earned cash on faked fashion which isnt going to make us look a million dollars, and wont make us look like Kate in a million years. When it comes to mock fashion the real mockery is the one we make of ourselves.

Dont despair! The internet is a fantastic resource for anyone seeking their own unique style. There are plenty of places to shop online offering distinctive, desirable apparel and accessories which will set you apart from the clothing clones without breaking the bank. The benefits of buying online are many; no more trooping round town elbowing others out of the way, no queues, and no last minute buying because the shops about to shut, only to get home and discover your panic purchase looks terrible on or has traces of cosmetics on the collar. Instead you can shop from the comfort of your home, browsing and buying at your leisure.

Small businesses and solo fashion designers use the web to showcase their products, and because their overheads are lower (no huge retail premises to maintain and large staff to pay) you have a real opportunity to purchase gorgeous garments and attractive accessories which wont cost the earth. There are also sites selling quality second-hand and vintage fashion pieces, allowing you to track down your own style statement for a fraction of the price of buying new. If something is described as hand made dont let memories of Auntie Dots amazing asymmetrical unravelling knitwear cloud your judgment handmade usually means lovingly crafted with great attention to quality and detail, and can definitely denote a one-off, original clothing item which will be the envy of others and a fashion favourite for years to come.

If youre more concerned about the look you want than the designer label youre wearing, there are a few points to consider when buying over the internet. Search for sites with decent product photographs and detailed descriptions, not tiny little thumbnail images. After all, you wouldnt buy a product from a catalogue unless you had a good idea what it looked like. Use careful keywords to narrow and speed your internet searches. For example, if youd prefer a product in a quality fibre, include wool or a more specific term such as mohair as one of your search words to find precisely what you want faster. Vague, all-encompassing search terms will only drag the high street to your desktop, and youll end up ploughing through virtual polyester! Make sure sites offer secure checkouts that encrypt your credit-card details; safe and trusted payment methods include PayPal, WorldPay and NoChex, although there are plenty of others.

Finally, enjoy the experience! The internet gives you a great choice, and buying online from a smaller supplier often means youll receive a much higher quality product and level of service than youd find in a vast anonymous bricks and mortar store. Independent online retailers are keen to involve their customers in a real relationship, and youll find yourself returning regularly to your favourite fashion sites. Shopping to suit yourself can be very rewarding, and not just financially.

Relationship Marketing - A Must For Your Computer Business :: Online Shoe Shopping News

Relationship Marketing - A Must For Your Computer Business

Relationship marketing is a better way to market. It benefits you and it benefits your prospects. Producing a win win situation is always advantageous so relationship marketing just makes good common sense.

What does relationship marketing mean for your consulting firm?

For starters relationship marketing creates a lot less sales resistance. The trust has already been established.

Relationship marketing typically produces a buyer who is less sensitive to price. These people are not out there shopping for a commodity.

With relationship marketing you will find much faster sales cycles. Your contacts won't be doing a ton of comparison-shopping. They might get a second comparison quote but they won't get 15 - 20 price quotes.

With relationship marketing you'll almost always see higher conversion rates - the rate at which you move people from prospects to clients.

Relationship marketing significantly reduces your credit risk. The trust factor is built up and people don't want to risk the embarrassment of running into you later knowing they haven't paid a bill.

What does relationship marketing mean for your prospects?

Relationship marketing brings peace of mind. They know you, they trust you, they perceive less risk.

Relationship marketing means a reduced likelihood of personality clashes. They already like you. Theres already some chemistry established and in a lot of cases you have been talking with them and chatting with them for a few minutes every time you have met over a period of a few months.

With relationship marketing, chances are you are already up to speed on their business. You've chatted lots before so they don't have to waste time explaining what it is they need, what kind of software they use, and the kind of problems they are having.

The Bottom Line on Relationship Marketing

Relationship marketing benefits both sides of the sales equation. You enjoy less risk and easier sales and your prospects enjoy increased confidence in their service provider. Relationship marketing is easy to do, it just takes a concerted effort. The results are well worth it and you will enjoy a more satisfactory overall relationship with the prospects you convert this way.

Custom Bicycles and Lowriders :: Free Coupons

Custom Bicycles and Lowriders

Custom bicycles and lowriders have been around for a long time, but they seem to be back in fashion again. They were first popular in the 60's and 70's but in the year 2000 they started to be popular again. These bikes usually have a long seat and high curved handed bars. The riding position is usually fairly laid back. They were originally fashioned on the chopper motorbikes that were popular at that time. They often have a lot of accessories on them and are not just built for riding.

There is now a thriving industry in these bikes that until recently had been thought of as a novelty. The bikes that they are making now, although they draw their inspiration form their earlier models are much more sophisticated and stylish. They are also a lot better to ride than the original bikes were. But although they are different, they still retain the same character.

The fashion of custom bicycles and lowriders really started in the US around 40 years ago. But they were not called lowriders then, they were called dragsters. Although they were originally bikes that were made by their owners, they were soon being mass produced by Schwinn bikes. Their owners could still customize them as the company sold many ad ons to the bikes, so that they could still get that home made fashion.

But the more recent custom bicycles and lowriders are much better made than the originals. They are also much lower to the ground. This is really a fashion thing but that is what these bikes are all about. But there is usually suspension on the front wheels and an oversized rear tire to make them more comfortable to ride. They also are trying to make them have more of a motorbike thing to them.

Another thing that the custom bicycles and lowriders usually have is a stick gear system. This is actually more like a car gear and it is an essential part of the bike. There are a lot of these bikes being sold at the moment and they are getting more and more popular. There are some really good websites as well where you can get some good advice if you are new to them. But if you are going to get one of the m then you have to customize it. That is really the whole point of these great bikes.

How To Use Used Car Prices To Help You Get A Good Deal :: Codes Galore

How To Use Used Car Prices To Help You Get A Good Deal

The best bargaining tool you can have when you hit a used car lot is information. If you come equipped with the average used car prices for models you are looking at and everything else you can find out on your own before shopping, you will be able to get a great deal. Take a look at how you can use this information you bring to get a good deal the next time you want to buy a used car.

The first thing that will happen when you come equipped with the current prices other car lots in town are selling similar cars for is that the salesperson will realize you mean business and will not settle for being scammed and taken for. This is a good thing because they wont waste their time trying to feed you the loads of crap their bosses teach them to use on nave consumers. In fact, they may even blow you off at first. But as long as you are persistent you will be able to talk them into making you a good deal.

The second thing that will happen when you come equipped with the information you need is that you will be able to pretty much choose what you want for much less than what the sticker price says. When you have blown the cover for the overpriced vehicles that are located there, the salespeople and owner will sell you almost anything, at any price, just to get you off of their lot.
